Simple Pleasures

A Few of My Favorite Gifts

What type of gift giver best describes you?

The Planner. This one gives themself a month or more to find that perfect gift.

The Thoughtful Giver.  Thinks of others throughout the year and buys on the spot when they see something that makes them think of a family member or friend. There is always a ready gift when an occasion arises.

Last Minute Buyer. Frantically searches the internet for gift ideas and then tries to find them in-store or on Amazon with next-day delivery.  Because well, it’s last minute.

The Insecure Giver. Worries that no one will like what they pick out and instead opts for a gift card at a place they know for sure the recipient has visited in the past.

The I’m Too Busy for you Giver. Ah, the cash giver. Not only does this person not have the time to shop for a present, but they don’t even have time to consider what you may like.

Whatever your style, sometimes it’s nice to have some help. Let’s face it, most of us are hit-and-miss when it comes to gift-giving. I can not tell you the best gifts for all of the people in your life, but it may be helpful, or at least fun, to share my own favorites from recent years. Some are more expensive, some are less, and some have little to no monetary value at all. But they’re all winners with me.

Here they are, in no particular order, 10 of my favorite gifts:

Air Pods

A life changer for me.  There is so much freedom in going wireless, from the ability to pick up calls hands-free to listening to a podcast while cleaning the house.

Homesick Candle

This is one of those simple, but cool ideas that make you ask yourself, Why didn’t I think of that? The scents are specific to each state and my Kansas candle takes me back to smells of rainstorms and sunflowers. Now that I have moved to Arizona, it may be time for a Colorado Homesick Candle.

Baseball Map

I am on a quest to visit as many MLB ballparks as possible and this is a fun way to track my progress.

Hawaiian Luau

One of the most amazing birthday celebrations in memory.  Trips (or just time spent together) are by far the sweetest gifts.

Photo Books

Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles… We all love pictures of the kiddos; these books are a fun way to present them.  They are also more compact than traditional photo albums and make attractive coffee table books.

Fan Paraphernalia

Thanks, sis, for keeping me supplied with gear and collectibles of my beloved Royals.

Heart Keychain.

Homemade by the grandkids. This heart, made from tiny finger impressions, will be cherished forever.

Tiffany & Co. Necklace

This made the list for the obvious reason of being beautiful (and Tiffany), but also because it was a present I received twice. It was a birthday gift from my husband that I thought I had lost on a trip. I was heartbroken, so imagine my excitement when I was surprised with it again 5 years later. He had discovered in the zippered pocket of a carry-on bag!

Omaha Steak Gift Box

In addition to their steaks (which are delicious), they offer chicken breasts, burgers, franks, and dessert options. They even make a veggie burger for the vegetarian on your list. You can’t go wrong with this gift.

SPA Gift cards

I can never get too many of these!
